FAQ's - How did you record this album? What kind of microphone did you use?

I used a ultra-high gain microphone and placed it as close to my guitar as possible. You may even be able to hear when the guitar and microphone got so close they "kissed". The objective was to achieve the closest possible feeling of being right in the room with the performer. The ethos of the album is to give the listener the feeling of being present during the performance, right down to the sound of fingers sliding over guitar strings.

When you write a song, do you sit down and write intentionally, or does it come from inspiration?

Inspiration is the starting point. The old saying "90% inspiration and 10% perspiration" holds true in my songwriting. My brothers and I joke that you can pick up a song from a pencil stub, a new guitar pick, or a new guitar (it doesn't even have to be your guitar). The best way I have found to write a song is to let emotions flow. I look for a rift... or a simple thread of emotion... this can often be all it takes to create a mood enveloped in melody.

What kind of guitar do you use on this album?

There is one guitar, and one guitar only throughout this album. It is a "La Espanola" hecho en Mexico (made in Mexico and secured with glue that will not let you put it down). "La Guitara" was obtained in a border town raid over the Texas/Mexico border. A book could be written about the circumstances leading up to the procurement of this guitar, but the emotion and romance it evokes is all you need to take the trip yourself.
